Empowering Communities for Change

Seed Grant Impact (SGI) is a young but growing NGO based in Arusha, Tanzania. Its purpose is to empower women, girls, and youth—especially those affected by gender-based violence (GBV), harmful cultural practices (like FGM and forced marriages), and poverty—by giving them the tools and opportunities to build independent, dignified lives.

SGI does this in several ways:

  • Education & Skills Training

    • Business training (how to set up, run, and sustain small businesses)

    • Tailoring training through a dedicated center at SGI HQ

    • Vocational courses like soap-making, agriculture, and other trades

  • Economic Empowerment

    • ViCoBa (Village Community Bank) savings and loan groups, so women can access small loans and build financial security

    • Micro-loans and seed grants for women-led businesses

  • Safe Spaces & Support

    • SGI HQ serves as a safe haven for women and youth experiencing GBV

    • Plans include a daycare center (so mothers can attend training), protective walls, toilets, and kitchens to create a secure and dignified environment

  • Community Change & Advocacy

    • Awareness campaigns about GBV, FGM, HIV/AIDS, and girls’ education

    • Close collaboration with local communities in Monduli, Longido, and Arusha District Council (DC)

    • Partnerships with local and national government to embed solutions into policy and practice

  • Bridge to Supporters Abroad

    • SGI works hand in hand with Stichting Tupendane Nederland (STN), which raises funds and awareness internationally

    • Together, they make sure donor support directly translates into real impact on the ground

At its heart, SGI is about restoring dignity, creating opportunities, and building resilience—so that women and youth are no longer defined by their struggles, but by their potential and achievements.

Our motto: Empowering women and youth, building a better tomorrow!
